1) Can someone, anyone, familiar with the Boston Area recommend a) a good oyster bar and/or seafood restaurant and b) a Yarn store near the Boston Park Plaza?
2) If you had $$ from a long-overdue tax return burning a hole in your pocket, would you buy yarn for this, this or this?
3) Is is possible to knit a 20x22 inch square on size 8 needles by tomorrow night?

I vote for Ariann. It's just so feminine :)
I like Ariann too. Definitely possible to get the square done!
Ariann too because I haven't seen any like that around here. I wish I could knit half as well as you do. wahhh
I like Grace and Ariann.
1. I stayed at the Park Plaza something like 15 years ago, although I doubt that would help you, because a) my memory's not that great, and b) what was good then might not be great now. Hey, I see on their site that there's a McCormick & Schmick's, which is usually a pretty good bet. There was a Legal Seafoods not too far away, but that can be hit or miss I think. The T is great in Boston, so I wouldn't worry about things being too far away...there is always something near a T stop.
2. I vote Thermal, because I love henley tops.
3. You can totally do that.
Some of the answers can be found in my blog (I do have a search feature) And some in Google of course. Good luck if you decide to try!
Union Oyster House has fabulous oysters and seafood, and has the added benefit of being the oldest consecutively running restaurant in America. :) Yarn stores that are easy to get to with the T are Windsor Button, Woolcott, and Mind's Eye Yarns. If you only have time to do one, do Windsor Button, and if you're not interested in some gorgeous handpainted merino/tencel sock yarn, it's probably not worth it to go to Mind's Eye. Anyway, all are easy to get to on the T, and you can use mbta.com to figure out which ones to take. :) When are you coming?
1. Sorry, but if you're ever coming to Minneapolis...
2. Grace!
3. Go go go go - you can do it!
Dude. Grace. How awesome are you going to feel knitting those lush cables with some spendy tax yarn? I like the other two patterns a lot, but they're just not as luxurious.
I heart Ariann, but GRACE. Definitely GRACE.
I vote for Ariann, too.
Have a great time in Boston!
I like GRACE. Have a great trip.
Debbie Bliss!
i asked a friend who lived in boston and he said "i dunno about an oyster bar, but i like "atlantic fish" on boylston street next to prudential. they have really good clam chowder. it's a good seafood restaurant in general."
1. Sorry, haven't been to Boston in 25 years.
2. I really love all three - and thanks for pointing to Thermal - I just printed that one. But if it's tax money, go with Grace and the DB yarn. Something about her yarn and her patterns together - that's considered a splurge in my world.
3. Absolutely.
Thanks for your comment on my scarf. It's funny that you said you were inspired because I believe I got the inspiration from your Lady E!
Ditto on Windsor Button (in fact, I have a lunchtime excursion planned for tomorrow!). It's a great variety of low and high-end yarns, and -- oh, the buttons! So many buttons . . .
And after 10 years of living in Boston, I *finally* ate at Union Oyster House a few weekends ago. It was fun as a tourist attraction, definitely centrally located, and I hear that the oysters are top-notch (I had grilled ones, which were tasty, but I'm not exactly a connoisseur). Another place that's a not-too-long walk from Park Plaza is B&G Oysters, which is supposed to be really fun, and not nearly as touristy as Union Oyster House (not that touristy is bad). And it's in the South End, which is a wonderful neighborhood to explore. Just don't go to B&G during peak hours, because I think it's a pretty small place: http://www.bandgoysters.com/index.php?page=food_drink
Enjoy your visit to this wonderful city! Feel free to drop me an email if you'd like anymore tips.
oops -- my email is jessica dot resnick at gmail dot com (thought blogger would tell you that somehow . .. )
