Tomatoey Spiced Chickpeas

I was going to blog about our final days in Italy, but I'm running late AGAIN, so this will have to do. I'll finish the other post at lunch.

Tomatoey Spiced Chickpeas
Gourmet, March 2009

I'll agree with a fellow reviewer over on epicurious.com that "This, folks, is the surprise hit of the March 2009 Gourmet." I needed a vegan recipe to take to Lenten service last night at church, and this is what a quick internet search led me to.

I'm usually hesitant to bring something to a potluck that I haven't made before, but I'm glad I took a chance on this one. The little old Armenian ladies liked it, so that's a definite check in the "WIN" column for me.

I can't wait to have the leftovers tonight. My guess is this got even better with time.

Check out the recipe over here.

Delia, I've been wanting for quite awhile to thank you for the "Irish Hiking" wristwarmers pattern. I've made them in many yarns for many people to rave reviews. You are a dear for posting them for the masses. But I have come across someone today who was using them to advertise and it is such blatant copyright infringement on this pattern that I wanted you to know. If you would like the details, please email me at maryjn@earthlink.net

I made your Red Kidney Bean dish (I don't remember exactly what it was called, but it was vaguely Indian) with Chick Peas instead and the recipe was quite similar to this! I made it w/ your cauliflower & potatoes dish and the yogurt on the side, served it with Naan and it was delicious, even my kids ate it. Thanks for the great recipes.

I made this for dinner last night -- it was great! I forgot to buy parsley, but I think it was fine without it. The mint was an interesting addition. It was almost like I could smell it, but not taste it!
