Guess what I did a couple nights ago?

and I rewarded myself with:
Onto the knitting.... Here are the Irish Hiking Wrist Warmers, done in Cascade 220.
These went REAL quick. About 6 hours total to make the set.
Here is the mock-lace skull cap, which is turning out to be my favorite project to date:
And I will leave you with this image, of a frustrated man finding out that his sister knits and that he is getting a Georgia Tech thong for Christmas:

I make it my personal goal to get the tree up the Sunday after Thanksgiving - otherwise it will never happen!
I noticed you're a grad. student - what are you studying? I got my MA in May, and I DO NOT miss stressing out about my thesis ;)
Aww I'm so jealous you got your tree up. I spent the weekend after thanksgiving searching for a good looking artificial tree (i'm thinking it'll be more cost effective in the long run), but I didn't find any that i liked in the store. Is yours real or artificial? I'm thinking I may have to go with real again (i do love the smell!)
your armwarmers look great. About how many stitches do you need to cast on for those?
also, what's that stew you're eating? It looks mighty tasty!
Lori -
The tree is real. I am a bit of a snob when it comes to my tree - I refuse to go artifical! It's SO nice to come home at the end of the day to an apartment that smells like pine!
BTW, my dinner is the Gamberi recipe that I submitted to the knit bloggers cookbook. Basically it is this: saute white onions (1/4 cup) and garlic (2 cloves, chopped) in oil from sun-dried tomatos, the saute some shrimp (as little or much as you want) until they just start to turn pink. Add a can of chopped tomatos & their juice, about 1 cup white wine, 1 tablespoon cider vinegar, italian seasoning and red pepper flakes to taste. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the broth starts to thicken.
I was trying to figure out what other type of matching accessory can be made to go with the Irish Hiking Scarf. Those wrist warmers look great!
thanks for the recipe!
yeah i think I'll have to go with a real tree. After going around with my bf lookng for trees, we couldn't settle on an artificial one because we want it to look real. And you're right about the smell of pine, mm... divine!
do you have to do anything special to keep your cats from attacking the tree? this is the first christmas I've had my kitty
Those wrist warmers look great. I'm tempted to make some of my own, although I have yet to figure out the benefit of wrist warmers. The fingers are always the cold part...
Anyway, I wanted to tell you about a site I'm trying to get up- Craftacular.com. It's a wiki for crafts. That means anyone can add their knowledge in their area of expertise. Thought you might like to check it out. Add anything you like!
