The Newcastle University business students have designed disposable shoes for women, called Soulmates.
The disposable shoes are made from two pieces of synthetic foam.
The idea is that women buy the £2 shoes from a bar at the end of the night and carry their uncomfortable heels home with them, preventing painful feet.
Why the HELL did I not think of something like this?!?
I would totally stash a pair of these puppies in my purse. I can't tell you how many times I have fearlessly cast off my shoes and stumbled walked home barefeet. I know, disgusting. But sometimes the pain is seriously unbearable, and now I may have another option as opposed to crying and making threatening demands asking my roommates to splurge on a cab!

Okay - I have to ask - why were you born in the wrong decade?
Jacqueline sends Delia a virtual Riesling.
Thank you, Jacqueline, I gladly accept the Riesling and pour you a nice Syrah in return.
I was "born in the wrong decade" because of the geniune way that I respond to some situations, my parents are convinced I was hypothetically born in the 70s. Sort of hard to explain in a comment, but it comes out every now and then in my posts (i.e. I haven't been this excitied since Simon and Garfunkle reunited!)
About living in San Francisco... that is the goal in the next year but for now I am in San Jose. You'd think that SF was my home, but I have some nice accomodating friends that let me spend a ridiculous amount of time on their couches.
I just have to comment about the disposable shoes.
I am a nurse and we had them in the hospital decades ago.
I'm not sure I would want to wear them home on the dirty streets, but I guess if your feet hurt that much and you are drunk you wouldn't mind. LOL
