Plus, I have to go to the front services desk from 1 till 4:30 . Here is what I have to look forward to for the next 3.5 hours:
Student Approaches Desk
Delia: [sitting under sign that says 'Pre-Admission Counseling'] Do you have a Pre-Admission Questions?
Student: I just have a quick question.
Delia: [uh-oh, this is SO not pre-admission related]. Yes?
Student: I need to have a retroactive withdrawl from my classes.
Delia: [blank stare]
Student: It says to wait in the line for records, but that line is long. Do I have to wait in that line or can you help me?
Delia: [looking up at the sign above her head]. Sir, I do not have the access or knowledge of how to do that.
Student: So I need to wait in the line?
Delia: [Fighting back urge to insert sarcastic-ass comment] Yes.
Student: [forced sigh for dramatic effect] FINE!
Was I that annoying when I was an undergrad?
Don't get me wrong, I really do love my job, but sometimes you just gotta vent so you can stay sane and keep a good work face on ;)
On a completely different note, has anyone picked up Knit 1 from Vogue Knitting/Lion Brand? Any thoughts? I am going to be disappointed if I spend the $6 on it? (that's 3 bottles of 2-buck chuck). However, I am seriously digging this top:
We like shirts that 'minimize the bust' in this camp.

K1 is largely dreck. It's an extended infomercial for Li*n Brand yarn. depends on how you feel about a 'sponsored' publication passing itself off as a magazine. I got snookered twice due to lack of attention. If you're really desperately in love with the top, email me my address and I'll mail you my copy. The jerks who dreamed it up don't deserve another penny.
The K1 is seriously going to be the publication where all the funny knitting patterns are that our children will pour through and say, "you really wore that?"
And I totally understand those undergrad days...somedays they're so precious ya wanna pinch them till they bleed.
oohhh, i love that top! i MUST make it! and i was going to tell you about how sucky my job is even though i get to make shots at work, but from your description today, maybe we have equally sucky jobs. you're welcome to come to my work for drinks anytime!
I used to work in graduate studies at the University of Canada.
I think aaaaaall students can be annoying.
My favorite comment was from an engineering student who called all other discplinces (English, communications, arts..) crap and a waste of time.
With a straight face.

So from Community Colleges to Grads, they're all out there to try the nerves of admins. Good to know!
La - As long as it's red and made from grapes, I'll drink it. Jennifer, this goes for any sort of layed shot you all come up with in the lab as well.
Jacqueline, after reading the informative reviews by Caroline and Hilari, if you still want a copy of Knit 1 (http://www.knit1mag.com/) I will see what I can do to find you one. Maybe we can all recycle Caroline's copy in protest.
I think I just want those thigh high argyle socks. Do they show how to make those in that magazine?
