| I am excitied to report that my 4 pairs of circular needles and I made it back from LA without a hitch. It was a | ![]() |
![]() | Actually, I did get a full day 'off' on Friday (i.e. no traveling), which I used to make some serious progress on Kyoto while gazing upon the 405 from my balcony. I thought it would show up better, but just beyond those trees is the roar of 9am traffic on a Friday morning. Later I hung out in the hot tub, then cleaned up in time to be kidnapped by La for a mini LA-area tour, S.E.X., and dinner. |
La surprised me with a set of booze-themed stitch markers that are totally worth giving up the beer tabs for, and a girly-pink coffee mug that matched ones that both her and Jen have. Per La's advice, I will probably keep it at Jason's for my coffee, since I don't expect him to sip his brew out of a pink mug with a bunny rabbit on it. At the LYS, I couldn't resist 2 balls of light blue Baby Alpaca goodness. In addition, I picked up a set of size 8 dpns to finish Jason's Silk Garden Beanie and some blocking pins (which I miraculously proceeded to get through the security checkpoint at LAX).
What is that WIP modeled in the photos? Well, much to my embarrasment I started another hat. But hear me out: I finished Jason's hat on Saturday ("you actually FINISHED something," he proclaimed), so naturally I had to start MY hat as well; the yarn was purchased at the same time so it was only logical, right... RIGHT?
So March 1 came and went I am nowhere near starting the Lucky Clover Wrap. I did purchase my yarn; which turns out to be backordered so now I have a little more time to plug away at Kyoto. I went with the blue that you all recommeded in an earlier post:

Speaking of Kyoto, a progress shot would have been in order here but I forgot to take one before I uploaded the others. I have finished the back, front left panel, and am about 1/2 way through the sash. I am starting the 2nd front panel soon, and will probably block and sew these together before I start the sleeves and/or finish the sash. I am concerned that 'the twins' are not going to fit in this thing, and I want to make any adjustments I need to before proceeding.
Final knitting notes:
I picked up the minisweater again last night, and inspired by Yifaa's version, I have abandoned the 'mini-cardi' route and will be making this a 'mini-ballet-sweater-wrap-thing' (ok that, and when I tried it on last nightI realized that this thing needed some 'extra pull' built in to cover the twins. Did I mention I am really not digging being busty these days?)
I've started the heel flap on the Star Gazer socks, with the aid of this site and this site. So far so good. No urges to impale myself with the dpns. I am realizing that there is going to be a lot of this yarn left over. The stuff is so damn soft, I think I may have to make a neckwarmer or pair of wristlets out of it.
On a completely unrelated note, I turn 25 in less than a month. Isn't 25 that age when you are supposed to be doing something big with your life? I really can't complain: I have a job, just bought a car, have almost paid off all debts and like to think I have an idea of who I am... but here it comes... the slide down to my 30's.... Jesus christ, wasn't I just 18 a couple years ago?!?
(Disclaimer: Please expect much more quarter life crisis rants from Wine and Needles in the next few weeks.)

Look at it this way...slide into your 30's and your sexual prime. ]I'm still waiting for mine to be delivered.]
sounds like you had a good time in LA with lots of happy knitting going on!
I am starting to think I'm old too! I'm turning 24 in August, but with these damn wrist/arm problems I feel like my body must be sixty already! Plus I'm using all this balmy stuff to rub on my arms that makes me smell like an old arthritic woman. Sheesh!
I'm ranting with ya girl!
too funny! I felt the same at 25. SOmething special was SUPPOSED to happen.....the only thing that did was I was finally able to drive a rental car :-)
Now I am 27 and 30 is just around the corner....but my darling husband is a bit older then me....so I will always be young compared to him!
Glad you got some stash in LA, and that you got your needles home safe!
Yeah, I'm freaked out about turning 25 too. Isn't one supposed to have a Career and be in Potentially Serious Relationship by then? Ack! How do you make the freakouts go away?
hey look you were mentioned here
