The Sweater That Would Not Die

The Sweater That Would Not Die (TSTWND)

So I FINALLY cast this thing off last night, after adding the 5 inches of extra quasi-ribbing on the bottom.

As a reminder:
-Zippered Jacket from Vouge Knitting, Holiday 2005*
-5 Balls Dolcetto from Joann's Sensations Line, in Cream
-Size 10 & 7 needles
After realizing it was going to be too short, I picked up all the stitches along the bottom hem then knit 2 rows st st, 2 rows 1x1 rib until it was long enough. Obviously the ends are still hanging out in all their glory, and lord KNOWS how long it will take to get the zipper in, but I'm overall pretty happy with it. I shortened the sleeves and collar quite a bit, but those were the only other mods. This is my first "completed" sweater. And I really dig this yarn.

So looking to the future, I'm debating whic of two new sweaters to cast on: Vee in E. Lavold Silky Wool (with some mods, obviously) or Aline in Cathay. What do you think?

* I just went to the Vogue website to find this link, and instead was smacked in the face with this. What the HELL. Vogue you have failed me!!! This definitely calls for it's own post later this week when my wit and sarcasam are in full effect.

The Jaywalkers were FOUND! They had fallen behind my desk at work... I'm actually lucky I found them before the dusty bunnies back there devoured them. I promptly grafted the toe on the first and cast on for the second. Someone had commented awhile back inquiring if 1 hank of Claudia's would be enough for one sock. Well here's what was left:

I knit these exactly as written on size 1s.... I also knit pretty tight and have pretty small feet (sz 6.5), so if you are going to use Claudias and have bigger feet than I, I would recommened shortening the leg. I will post finish photos when #2 is done

I really like that sweater!! I may have to dig through my Vogue archives. Crap, and here I was wondering when the spring issue was going to arrive. I see nothing redeemable there WHATSOEVER.

Hmmm, tough decision. I could easily vote for Aline, as it is my middle name. But I also work in a library, so the "naughty librarian" look of Vee is appealing as well. Looks like Aline would be more fun to knit, and Vee more fun to wear. I'm not being any help, am I?
Good news about the Jaywalkers! And the sweater rocks!

I kind of like the Aline. And the VK preview? Um . . . I do actually think that one or two aren't horrible, but . . . er . . . yeah. For the most part, pretty bad! Whatever happened to classy knits??

Your sweater turned out great!!

Hmm, I like Vee. Oh, dear, that Vogue preview has way too much fug in it.

Glad you found your Jaywalkers!

That sweater is lovely! I like the ribbing modification at the bottom.
My favorite of the new Vogue is that, um, tank dress with the flowers. Not exactly sure where one would wear that. And knitted cotton bikinis? Not so much.

Why did I renew my subscription again? Oh yea, because it was $14 and I figured I could get that much out of 4 issues...but now I'm doubtful. The sweater looks great! and I'm glad the Jaywalkers showed up! Whew!

Hrm, I don't remember any of the sweaters from that issue looking as nice as that sweater does on you. I'll have to go dig through the magazine. Another vote for Aline as well.

Very pretty sweater! I used that yarn to make a bunch of cabled hats for Christmas. I really liked the war it made the cables pop and how soft it was...totally a winner yarn (and it can be had pretty cheaply!)

Delia, love the sweater girl! I think it looks so much nicer in a solid color.

I am planning on making this too, but I'm thinking of leaving out the leaf panels in front. Would that make it boring? I'm curious about what mods you made to this. Did you add waist shaping? If you had known ahead of time it was going to be too short, would have have chosen a different technique to add length to the body? Found your blog thanks to Lauren at almostfelted, by the way. :-)
