Another Rambling Entry......

It's a bit bizarre being back at my desk, eating my roasted chicken sandwich from Subway, and browsing blogs like I do every afternoon. I have a lot to catch up with - and I had a nice surprise waiting for me in the form of being accepted into the RAOK ring! More blogs to read!!!! YAY!!!

I was back in Fresno for 5 days, and for the first time I decided NOT to take my computer with me. I returned to 54 email messages and about 30 offline yahoo messenger comments. I guess I forgot how much i've got going on in the cyber world sometimes.

Anyhow, this was one of the best trips back home I have ever had. I am usually a bit hesitant to see all my former classmates who are doing the same thing, with the same issues, and the same drama. But in addition to those annoying few (one of which was wearing sequins - SEQUINS! to a bar that has hay on the ground. Only in Fresno), I saw a lot of great people that I had fallen out of touch with.

I found out a great friend of mine, Mike, lives in Burligame. Fantastic! You can never have too many friends up here! Also, my friend Abby let in that she desperately wants to move to the city - No shit? Did I mention the biggest thing holding me back is lack of a roommate??? Anyway, it was a weekend of too much food, too much wine, and an abundance of sleeping. Wednesday night I was out making the rounds with high school friends, Friday night was the Rau post-Thanksgiving Bash, and Saturday was an evening of the good wine with mom and Jeff. Every other weekend I come home my mom gets pissed when my sister and I come home at 3am, drunk, pass out until 2pm, then get up and go to BK for french fries. But this time she let us indulge without a 2nd glance - guess she knows we [sis + I] have been working our tails off and deserve to be a bit irresposible.

I guess I should also mention I was weak and went shopping too. I am IN LOVE with this Jacket from Target:

Both my sister and I both bought one. I also assulted Marshall's and got this great vintage-looking sheer BCBG top, marked down from $98 to $20, a pair of bronze disco-revival heels, and a demin jacket for $15. GOD I love a successful shopping trip.

On the knitting front, I did have a bit of a disaster occur. In my haste to leave San Jose on Wednesday morning, I forget my whole stash that was coming with me. Fortunately, I had a skein of Cascade 220 and a set of needles in my purse, but I was petrified I was going to run out before the weekend was over [I am on a yarn diet until after x-mas]. Anyhow, what this experience taught me is that when you zero in all your energy on one project, you can actually get it done fairly quickly.

I designed and completed a pair of Irish Hiking Wrist Warmers, and achieved a perfect seam on both of them [I'm still scared of the dpn's]. On my final night I started a mock-lace skull cap in the same yarn. It's been a lot of fun, I am having a hard time putting the needles down.

Hmmm... what else. We all remember Keith from a few posts ago? On Wednesday night, he called me around 3:00am and goes "GUESS what my sister [Karen] is doing right now?!?". I was totally on to him. "KNITTING!" I responded enthusiastically. He was disgusted. I promptly made plans to come over and teach her how to cable after dinner on Thanksgiving.

I also had a nice little package from Elann.com waiting for me (my final purchase before the yarn diet). A bag of Peruvian Highland wool in Oxblood - on sale for only $20!!!!! So excitied, now I just need a little cardi patten to start on.

Ok this is getting long and tedious with only 1 photo. Tonight I will post knitting update photos.

OH OH WAIT - PS.... tomorrow I should find out about the Admissions job. I have never been so anxiously awaiting something in my entire life.

I've been waiting about a month to get into RAOK... I thought it would take forever too!

I will post the photos of the wrist warmers soon - I couldn't be bothered to do ANYTHING after work last night. I will also include photos of the Georgia Tech thong that I cast on last night =).
