A Weekend of Knitting

I am entitling this post 'A Weekend of Knitting' because I have officially decided that my weekend is starting today. Yes, I do have to work a full day tomorrow, but I am going to try an experiment in my psyche and convince myself that I am actually on vacation a day early. I am going to attempt to not stress out about anything tomorrow, i.e. "Let's talk about it on Monday", and instead enjoy a day schmoozing with co-workers. Yay for 3-day weekends!

Actually while I am at it, I should just go on Thanksgiving vacation. I am only working 2 days next week, so maybe I can allow my brain to cash out recharge for an extended period of time? Keith [an old buddy who is in grad school in GA] flies into the Bay Area on Monday night, so his presence will definitely assist with my attempts to tune out responsibility.

Ok back to something that makes sense. Ah yes, the weekend of knitting. Since Jenny [roommate] has a 'new man', she has effectively bailed on Friday Night Girls Night Out, so I find myself without ANYTHING to do tomorrow night. It's been awhile since I hung out on the couch, so I am embracing the evening as a knitting marathon. My goal is to finish SJP before the end of the weekend.

Keith and Yours Truely, July 2004. Keith feels that I need a hobby "that is more my age". I debating knitting him a thong to prove that this ain't your grandmas yarn and needles.

[Speaking of SJP, I can already see what my problem as a knitter is going to be. I noticed that about 7 rows back, I totally screwed up the yo ragalan increases I am doing in two places. Maybe it's because I am still working with cheap yarn, but I had said 'screw it, I am not frogging back to those rows'. ]

Saturday is the Big Game, and I am already debating if I will be able to: 1) knit, 2) hold a beer in my lap, and 3) root for a CAL victory all at the same time. I am sure that by the 4th quarter, the effects of item #2 will severly hinder my ability to carry out item #1. I have also already given myself the go-ahead to wake up on someone's couch on Sunday morning, so if item #3 is accomplished, then I will probably find myself somewhere in SF in my clothes from the game the day before. My dad will roll his eyes like I am crazy, hitching myself all over the Bay Area with no one else to think about other than myself.

Yeah, you know you wish you had my life ;), but the grass is always greener on the other side, No?

Ok, I should officially change the title of this post to 'Delia's Stream of Conciousness....', effectively summing up my inability to stay on topic today. I guess I forgot to inform my brain the vacation doesn't start until 5:30....

PS - I 'officially' decide a lot of things. Maybe it makes me feel important?

make him a thong, a thong! Ooh you could make it out of licorice like that one in knitty. It'd be quite amusing. You two are so cute!

I am in the process of designing a Georgia Tech (his current school) themed thong. I will definitely post photos as this gem takes shape.

That is a very accurate way to put it Alice! I have adopted a "f*ck this" approach to knitting! ;).
