1) I have knitting A-D-D and knitting a sweater on size 2s seems like a set-up for failure.
2) I have a bunch of yarn already stashed for upcoming progects, and this would require purchasing more. I am only allowing myself 1 major tax-refund purchase until the end of the summer, so I need to be smart here.
But I do know this: I love slip stitch. And I love colorwork. And I love that cute little diamond motif, but just once on the back, the rest of the sweater in the basic pattern. I'm thinking blues + violets, making use of the recycled Rowan 4ply in Bluebell in my stash. Argh. I will lose sleep over this.
| Also - Have any of you had an experience with knitting sleeves from the top down? Reversing the shaping and such? I am about 2 balls short of yarn for Aline, so I have shortened the legnth of the body, and figure I will need to do the same with the arms. My thought process was to start at the sleeve caps, then keep knitting down the arm until I run out of yarn. Someone PLEASE tell me if this is a tradgically bad idea. | ![]() |
Currently Missing: 1 Pattern for the Karabella Cabled Cardi. I have a bad feeling it jumped out of my bad somewhere between here and San Francisco on Opening Day.

It's an interesting sweater, that knitty one. I guess I just feel non-plussed by the whole issue.
Wouldn't starting from the cap sleeve down be like doing a raglan? What's the worst thing that could happen? You'd have to frog it. Give it a whirl...be daring!
I don't think I could do a whole sweater with size 3 needles! It is a pretty pattern though.
Um, I'm sure there are tips in Barbara Walker's Knitting from the Top, but, um, I've never read it. :)
I have a mostly done tank top knit in black on 0s - the only reason it's not done is because I have to rip out the armhole edging because I didn't pick up enough stitches. Fortunately, fall arrived and gave me a break on that!
