G is for Giants

G is for Giants

I love baseball. LOVE it. And of course, in my opinion there is one truly great team that I will root for until I die.

I come from a long line of Giants fans including my dad and grandpa, so I pity the fool who has another team in mind when he comes into our little circle (i.e. my sisters boyfriend, an A's fan).

I am going to sorely miss the ability I had in the Bay Area to jump on the CalTrain at a moment's notice to go to mid-week games. A couple beers, a hotdog, and serious heckling of the opposing team was BY FAR the best way to spend an evening. Unfortunately, I now have a 3 hour haul to the park, so at least for now, this fantasy has to be lived out via the television.

My dad, sister and I go to Opening Day every year as a little father-daughter bonding, something I am sure we will continue doing for a long, LONG time. There's nothing like ditching work for the day for some baseball, yah know? Hopefully this will go on to include OUR kids & future Giants fans someday. Love them or hate them, you really can't argue with PacBell, SBC, AT&T Park (Lesson learned: Never name a ballpark after a telecommunications company!).

Till then, I'll just keep talking smack and making outrageous bets with Dodgers fans about how far superior my team is. Heh. ;)

Great "G" entry! As someone who works for a telecom company, I got quite a laugh out of the naming issue! Too true.
