Dishsoap...that's it. I have some Claudia's Handpainted too and have been trying to figure out what the smell was. Yeah, I don't like it so much either.
Oh the Webs sale. I have been torturing myself over the Cathay!
Ewww. Ok, now I don't wanna buy any Claudia's... vinegar I can understand (from dyeing), but dishsoap?
Yeah, we've noticed that too, definitely. Some colors are worse than others, and we've notified her about it. She's, you know, working on it.
I'm pretty sure that when you eventually wash your socks, you won't require any soap. :P
A lot of hand spinners use dove liquid soap to get the 'grease' out of their wool. It works wonders. If she then died it though, you'd think it would smell like vinegar. But, I'd guess that dishsoap probably WAS used. As long as the yarn is colorfast, you can always wash it with your fav, shampoo after your done, and it should smell like that instead... or keep it with some nice smelling soap!
