My Perfect Saturday

My 29th birthday is this Tuesday (the 24th), but we got the party started a little early this weekend.

Can't beat laying in the grass with a Corona on a warm spring afternoon!

Later, a big group of us had dinner at my favorite Mexican restaurant. Since I've never been a big fan of sweets, I got my candle in my enchiladas instead.

Finally, I have to share this awesome gift from my Brother-In-Law's girlfriend:

Forever 29!

Christmasing

We are in full Holiday Spirit mood around here. If you don't know, I freaking love the Holidays. I love the cold days, Christmas Carols, the smell of pine trees in my house every morning, lighting up the fireplace, gathering with friends for spiked eggnog and champagne cocktails. As always to celebrate the start of the season, I host a holiday brunch for 12 of my girlfriends.

"Brunch" is actually a little misleading. It's actually cocktails, brunch, run out of champagne and move onto wine, dance party in living room, husbands and boyfriends arrive, decide on a dinner spot, take party across town, come home and pass out at 1:30am. That about sums it up.

The decorating is also finished:

Please excuse Katy's backside in this photo

I'm not knitting gifts for anyone this year because this season snuck up on me and I have no time. I might make something for my cousin or niece, but nothing I couldn't finish in a couple days.

FA LA LA!

The Tale of Peter Rabbit

This is where I start this post with a half-assed comment about how I've been so busy and neglected the blog... blah blah blah. Well I'm glad I got that out of the way.

July was basically one big vacation for me; Yosemite, Chicago, Santa Cruz - I literally have no idea where it all went. So we were finally home and had a free weekend. What did we do? Throw a party, of course!

Shopping for masses-o-meat. A Little Drunk.

See, we had gone to help out my sister-in-law at a wine competition she was coordinating... and we drank a bunch of the reject wines (DUH!) aaaand got a little tipsy, which was only made worse when we decided to hit our favorite watering hole on the way home, aaaand then I decided to invite everyone over. Because trying to cook pilaf over a hot stove and chopping onions with a super-sharp knife seems like a phemonal thing for a chick who has had about 6 drinks to do.

One of our guests that night, Peter, had to suffer a little more than the others. About a year ago we started calling him Peter Rabbit for no other reason other than it was funny and it kind of pissed him off.

So we got a Peter Rabbit for the party.

You know where this is going, right?

And for those of you who prefer the live version:

Don't ask me why that was so funny. I BLAME THE WINE.

On a completely un-related note, my Rav-Olympics Project is swatched and ready to go. More on that tomorrow or Firday.

Crab N' Kegs

Picture if you will, my sister and I sitting around drinking wine one night when I comment outloud to myself "gee, it would be fun if we could throw a crab feed for your birthday next month..."

Crazy ideas turn into even crazier parties.

Sissy turned the big 2-6 last week, and my mom actually let us put a keg in her backyard to celebrate. Cause nothing says "DOWNWARD SLIDE TO 30!" like crab and kegs. I'm not the biggest beer fan in the world, so I celebrated by drinking some yummy chardonnay. However, Matt only had one thing to say about this:

Knitting coming soon.

Friday Night Bocce

One of the coolest things about our sub-division is the Bocce court. So Friday we decided to have a little BBQ/Bocce night at the Casa.

Matt maintaining great form, even WITH a beer in hand.

My sister and I did NOT Bocce, we drank wine.

Katy supervised.

Needless to say, I got zero knitting done that night.
