2.27.08

I feel like posting today, but I don't have a lot to say. We'll see where this goes.

We've been settling into post-wedding life (38 days ago!) and all the cardboard boxes and PACKING PEANUTS (oh, the packing peanuts) are finally out of the house. This is the first time we've been able to focus on actually getting the house put together, and it's been SO satisfying to complete these little home projects (putting away the china in felt covers, sanding down and painting a desk for the spare room, planting some grass and freesia plants in the backyard, organizing the garage). My newest obsession is what to do to add some visual appeal to our living room. I've been LOVING patterns - and I think curtains are the best way to do this:

I just LOVE these from Pottery Barn but even on sale, I don't feel like dropping that sort of $$$ for my vision. So fabric.com it is:

Since I FINALLY have place for my sewing machine (see home projects; above), this may come to be. I've been totally inspired by the mysterious subscription to Domino that started showing up 2 monthes ago.

As seen in a previous post, I started a sweater for Matt. It's Cobblestone, in Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran Tweed (which is SERIOUSLY my favorite yarn EVER). I love how rustic it is turning out - very different from anything else in my sweetie's closet. I finished the body and am about 1/2 way through the 1st sleeve. Goal finish date is the end of March, in time for our weekend in Cambria. Working on a pillow for the spare room and a Linen top, too. The WIP's never stop.

Wear Your Knits To Work Day

The weather around here has been GORGEOUS. LOVELY. OH-WHY-DO-I-HAVE-TO-BE-AT-WORK-AND-NOT-ON-A-PATIO-DRINKING-MARGARTIAS type of days.

So last weeked, we took my mom hiking bright and early for her birthday. Personally, my birth celebrations usually include mimosas and sleeping in, but hey, it was her day!

Ok, so my sister and I prefered goofing off to listening to the history of the area. At least I got in some skipping-rock practice.

But now the weather is crap. Katy is going to be devasted, but I will not walking her in this yuckiness later on tonight. But the good news is, I now have the opportunity to wear the U-Neck Vestee to work today.

Lets hope my umbrella doesn't fail me like last time; I ended up smelling like a wet dog for half the morning.

Hubby M is gone tonight, so the menagerie and I will be parked on the sofa, with soup and Silkroad Tweed. Perfect way to spend a rainy evening.
