Let's see what sort of google traffic I generate with a title like that!
With the hustle and bustle of everyday life around here, when I finally slowed down for a minute this weekend it hit me: 30. Yup, today is my 30th Birthday. Wow. Just wow.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not upset about this. I couldn't ask for more - I'm married to a man I love and adore, we've got a baby boy on the way, we own a house, everyone is in good health and I've got a fabulous group of friends. But there is something bitter-sweet about saying goodbye to the carefree days of 20 and HELLO to the "responsible" 30s.
What was that about never trusting someone over 30?
Adding to the strangeness/ironicness of the day, I had my 28 week doctors appointment this morning at 8:30am. The Dr. that saw me today was the SAME one who delivered me (well, he couldn't get there in time but his midwife did - he showed up 5 minutes later). So there I was, sitting in his office getting my exam at the EXACT minute I was born 30 years ago. Cool, huh?
We're keeping it low-key tonight - not much you can do when you're 7 months pregnant and exhausted by 6pm. Matt is taking me to dinner at Cracked Pepper, a fabulous little place here in town and I will be crazy and sneak a few sips of wine. We might even stay out after the sun has gone down :).

28 Weeks
Total Weight Gain: (+19) since pre-pregnancy. OYE!
Maternity Clothes? Yes please. Can't even pull up my non-maternity pants anymore.
Stretch Marks? Still none. I can't be this lucky, can I?
Sleep? Bipolar. One night it's great, I sleep all night and get up only once to use the bathroom, and the next I'm up with insomnia. Go figure!
Best Moment This Week: First baby shower! It makes it even more real now that we have infant seats and play-yards sitting in our living room
Movement: Strong and consistent. I'm feeling (and seeing) kicks and body movement. We found out he's already head down, so let's hope he stays that way.
Food Cravings: Frozen yogurt, cupcakes, pasta. Anything sugar!
Gender: BOY
Labor Signs: Starting to feel Braxton Hicks about 2-3 times per day.
Belly Button - In or Out? In. But it's spread open wide!
What I miss: Raw sushi. Happy Hour.
What I am looking forward to: Putting in more work on the nursery
Weekly Wisdom: Weight gain is going to happen regardless of what you do, so trust your body and know it's doing what is right for the baby.
Milestones: 3rd trimester here we go!

On Cupcakes and Onesies
Want to see my absolute favorite thing about being pregnant?

Cupcakes.
People, I have developed a sweet tooth like you wouldn't believe. I've NEVER had cravings for sugar - EVER, and now I can't get enough. My favorite has definitely been cupcakes. I am beyond thankful that there isn't a Sprinkles or other cupcake bakery near my house, or we'd be in trouble. My mom treated me to this guy after lunch today.
Mom (Nonni, as we are going to call her) had some other surprises for me today:

DMC's outfit to wear home from the hospital, and...

How freaking cool is this. He's going to be a Classic Rock junkie before he can even walk!
In knitting, I get a big fat FAIL in the Ravelympics this year. I got everything but 1 sleeve and the finishing completed, which is something, but not enough for the win. However I have gotten some of my knitting mojo back, which was one of the intended consequences anyway.
I've been working on this for the babe:

Kid is going to be born in the height of baseball season, so he needs SOMETHING Orange and Black. Full photo once I finish the neck.
