I got to spend an evening in the old college stomping ground, Santa Barbara, this past weekend. My friend who was with me was an alum as well, and we couldn't stop talking about how lucky we were to go to school there. Don't get me wrong, I had to claw my way in to UCSB so I was always incredibly appreciative to be there, but there's nothing like driving out of the central valley smaze (smog+haze) in the morning and seeing this view at night. Trust me, it was even more awesome in person (especially since we were accompanied by chardonnay and oysters).

We baptized Dominic this past Saturday. As you might remember, I myself was baptized into the same church a couple years ago, and we were able to use the same cross (which was his dad's from HIS baptism 33 years ago) again for him.
His godparents are our friends Peter and Demitra. Peter is the kind of godfather who will teach him how to pick out a fine champagne, and teach him to drive stick shift in a Rolls Royce.

On the Move
I wasn't there to actually see how this happened because I was washing bottles in the kitchen. All I know is that I was gone for maybe a minute, and this is where I found him. Not only did he start on his big fleece blanket on the other end of the room, but he was also facing the other direction.
He's not actually crawling either, so he covered some serious ground scooting and/or rolling.
Matt, I think it's time we invest in some baby gates!
